Making A Birthday Cake For Myself…For The First Time! | Trying New Things
My birthday wish this year was to make a cake for myself! This is not a spontaneous decision, I’ve been thinking about it for months, and I almost gave up on it. Because not only that I was very busy in July, I also have no experience in baking what so ever. But I’m glad I didn’t! It’s my first time baking and decorating a cake, so don’t be too harsh on me haha! I know it didn’t turn out perfect, but honestly, it tasted pretty good. 🙂 By the way, please don’t follow my steps and attempt to make a cake yourself haha. I’m a beginner baker, so this is NOT a tutorial.
I used a regular vanilla cake mix for the cake. The hardest part for me was making the whipped cream. I think I blended it for too long, and it became too thick for icing. Also, I made the mistake of not letting the top layer cake cool down completely, so when I put the whipped cream on top, it melted a little. Now I learned, and I won’t make the same mistake again! Overall it was a super fun experience. I’m happy with the result and can’t wait to experiment with more cake art in the future. It’s never too late to try new things right? I encourage everyone to keep challenging yourself and find new passions. Hope you enjoy the video!
